Program: Thomas Bliley, Former CongressmanFor 20 years beginning in 1980, Tom Bliley served in the U. S. House of Representatives, six years of which he chaired the House Committee on Commerce. He began his political career in 1968, when he was elected to the Richmond City Council, and he served as Richmond’s mayor from 1970 to 1977. He is now a senior government affairs adviser in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP. He remains active in Richmond community affairs, serving on numerous boards and commissions.
Program: Presentation of the New Strategic PlanTime: 10:30 a.m.
Location: VHS classroom located on the second floor.
Every five years the Club strategic plan undergoes a major revision. The plan is also updated annually thereafter to ensure that it stays current with the Club's overall direction. To this end, a committee was put together to create the new five year strategic plan for 2010 to 2015. This work was begun in February and completed in July.
The new plan was presented to interested Club members and the Board on July 12 and, at the request of several members, will be presented at this time.

Program: Kristin VanStory, FeedMore, Dir. CommunicationsSince 2008 Kristin VanStory has been Director of Communications for FeedMore, the umbrella organization created through the merger of the Central Virginia Foodbank and Meals on Wheels Serving Central Virginia. Kristin was part of the planning team that brought the two organizations together to increase operational and fiscal efficiency, improve service effectiveness, and broaden feeding capabilities. A native Virginian, Kristin has a degree in speech communications from Radford University.

Program: Burke King, Pres. Anthem Blue CrossBurke King is responsible for the management of all employer health insurance business in Virginia, including sales, account service, marketing, and underwriting, as well as being involved in corporate strategy planning and execution. He joined the company in 1992. His bachelor’s degree is from Hampden-Sydney College, and he holds an MBA degree from William and Mary.
